We have begun to work with a citizen representative from the UK on one of eCREAM’s studies, the Use Case 2 study. This study involves the development of dashboards with real-time data from the emergency department designed for different end users based on their needs.

For citizens, a dashboard will be designed to empower them in their healthcare choices. This citizen dashboard will provide information on the nearby EDs’ predefined characteristics, such as criteria for assigning the priority code, and on their real-time crowding level and number of patients waiting. The dashboard will prompt patients to consider different, more appropriate, or more efficient healthcare services suited to their needs, thus reducing unnecessary waiting times and inefficient or unnecessary use of resources.

We will soon begin to also work directly with citizens to understand their needs and to acquire their perspectives on the potential uses and usefulness of the dashboard.
